European Label Forum 2017 - a flashback |
|
Last week, the labelling community gathered in Berlin for the third European Label Forum. In this newsletter we bring you the ins and outs of the event. In total, 220 representatives of label printing companies, suppliers and national label associations attended a working programme, which Past-President Thomas Hagmaier described as 'a helpful tool to look beyond the simple horizons of order books and to prepare oneself for the future.' The keywords of this year's forum were 'The Challenges of Change' and 'STRAGILITY'. The latter being a made-up word that combines strategy and agility, but which proves to be vital for companies to possess in order to build a stronger business. The ELF2017 served also as the background for the change of guards: Chris Ellison, OPM Group (UK) succeeded Thomas Hagmaier (DE) as President of FINAT. A full report of the proceedings will be published soon, but in the meantime enjoy the pictures (more than in this newsletter) on the ELF website. |

Packaging Chain Forum opposes change of legal basis of Packaging and Packaging Waste Directive A cross-industry joint statement explaining the packaging value chain’s opposition to the proposal to change the legal basis of the Packaging and Packaging Waste Directive(PPWD) has been issued to the Commission. It has been co-signed by 66 EU and national organisations, including CITPA, of which FINAT is a member. The main objection is that the Internal Market would no longer be used as legal base, which could open the door to varying Member State measures and thus impacting the free movement of packaged goods within the EU. The European Paper Recycling Council (EPRC) opens call for recycling awards Now in their 6th edition, the European Paper Recycling Awards recognise innovative projects and campaigns enhancing paper recycling in Europe. There are two categories: 1) Information & Education 2) Innovative technologies and R&D Deadline for application is 3 July 2017. Companies can apply here: |
